ARTISTIC STATEMENT
I am a choreographer and lifelong student of dance, drawn to abstract and experimental movement. My work is inspired by rhythm, emotion, and the artists who came before me, especially that of Bob Fosse, Alvin Ailey, Robert Battle, and Pina Bausch. My interests in the theatricality of Broadway, surreal themes, and African American vernacular dance allow me to create pieces that feel both fresh and familiar.
I aim to surprise and move audiences, using unexpected shifts in mood and surreal themes to create moments of introspection. My choreography is meant to excite, make audiences feel deeply, and reflect on heavy, relatable themes.
My interest in pushing boundaries while honoring cultural roots of the movement are at the core of my creation, and my curiosity drives me to always search for new ways to connect through dance.
