Colby Johnson is a dancer and choreographer from Atlanta, GA who is currently a senior undergraduate student at The University of Alabama. With over 18 years of dance training in various genres, she has taken on many leadership positions as a choreographer in high school and at the college level; creating works for Dance Alabama! and The Emerging Choreographers Showcase. Currently, she is continuing to develop her choreography for ECS that will take place in February 2025.
Hello and welcome to my site! I believe that everyone should have access to dance, as it offers a powerful outlet for relieving stress and healing from trauma. I also believe that unlocking creative potential is essential—it fuels innovation and fosters a sense of freedom.
In my work, I focus on creating and performing rhythmic movement styles that rely on symbolism and explore relevant topics from a deeply personal perspective. My passion for dance and the dramatic arts stems from the joy and fulfillment I experience when immersed in these creative spaces—something I find nowhere else.
As a choreographer, I aim to continue exercising my creative freedom by producing works both on stage and behind the camera, while also performing in a variety of other projects. I aspire to travel the world, mentoring those who lack access to creative resources and making dance more accessible for everyone.
Ultimately, I envision owning my own production company one day, enabling me to create on a larger scale and really solidify my success. I'm excited about upcoming projects, including short films and stage choreography at Bama, which I hope to submit to film festivals and use as a springboard for gaining recognition in the arts. My long-term goal is to build a career as a dancer and actor on screen, becoming a pivotal force in the industry with a multifaceted presence in the arts. I hope to use this platform to make more charitable efforts and empower others to find their own creative voice.
